About the guest:
Meghan O’Brien Lowery is Director and Partner at The Greenbaum Foundation, that focuses on ending factory farming and reimagining a more sustainable food system. Meghan has spent the past decade working in the philanthropic and non-profit space cultivating a unique perspective and voice around grant making.
She focuses on the intersection of animal, human and environmental injustices, where these issues often collide and create an immense amount of suffering. In a previous life, Meghan graced the stage studying musical theatre in undergrad and graduate school and then working professionally. Her early passions for storytelling, singing, dancing and acting built the foundation of tools she now uses to teach a variety of topics. She has a passion for empowering her colleagues, staff and youth around the world with finding their voice and creating a positive narrative, internally and externally.
Meghan’s work at the Borough of Manhattan Community College allowed her six years to tailor a public speaking curriculum that she now uses to help others create their two-minute elevator speech, share their mission and promote themselves and their work. Having provided lectures from Berlin to Washington, D.C., Meghan feels comfortable working with all levels of students from any background and country.
Her curriculum has been tailored to youth in Nairobi, Kenya, to C-level leadership in some of the largest animal rights non-profits around the globe and to her local girl’s camp. Here favorite quite is by Marie Forleo, “Shame always shrivels when you share it out loud”
