Brian Kateman, President and Co-Founder
Brian co-founded the Reducetarian Foundation in 2015 after coining the term “reducetarian” to describe a person who is deliberately reducing their consumption of meat. He is now the author of The Reducetarian Solution, The Reducetarian Cookbook, and Meat Me Halfway, and is the lead producer of the documentary version of Meat Me Halfway. He is a regular contributor to Fast Company and Forbes, and his writings have appeared in The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post, among others.
Brian is an adjunct professor of environmental science and sustainability at Kean University and teaches environmental communications at Fordham. He holds an MA in Conservation Biology from Columbia University and a BA in Biology from The Macaulay Honors College, City University of New York. He lives in New Jersey with his wife Isabel and rescue dogs Tobey and Cooper.
Archie McCarthy, Graphic Designer
Archie is Graphic Designer at the Reducetarian Foundation, where he makes artwork and social assets including web banners, flyers, infographics, and visual assets for the podcast and other projects. He holds a BSc in Multimedia Technology and Design.
Archie likes to flex his creative muscles whenever he can. He is the founder and recipe developer at MunchPost, where he creates straightforward plant-based recipes. In addition to cooking, he likes to read, go to the cinema, and play Dungeons & Dragons.
Sofia Davis-Fogel, Fellowship Director
Sofia is currently Fellowship Director at the Reducetarian Foundation, where she previously contributed research assistance and content editing for our three books as Senior Editor. Independently, Sofia also assisted with the publication of a fourth book: Food, Animals, and the Environment: An Ethical Approach by Jeff Sebo and Christopher Schlottmann. Prior to joining our team, Sofia served as Managing Director at Animal Charity Evaluators and Head of US Development at Anima International.
In addition to her work at the Reducetarian Foundation, Sofia is Program Coordinator at the NYU Center for Environmental and Animal Protection, the NYU Wild Animal Welfare Program, and the NYU Center for Mind, Ethics, and Policy.
Sofia holds a BA in Animal and Environmental Studies from NYU and pursued an MPA in Nonprofit Management at Baruch College, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs.
Outside of her nonprofit work, Sofia enjoys watching bugs and practicing Wah Lum Kung Fu.
Amanda Buckley, Communications Assistant
Amanda is Communications Assistant at the Reducetarian Foundation, where she assists with the website, social media, and media outreach. Amanda holds a BA in Communications and Culture from Fordham University.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys playing and writing music for voice, bass, piano, and guitar. Additionally, she likes to explore the outdoors with her friends and family.
June Ok, Fellowship Coordinator
June is Fellowship Coordinator at the Reducetarian Foundation, where she oversees the fellowship program in Washington, DC. She pursued a BS in Public Health and a minor in Nutrition Science at Milken Institute of Public Health at The George Washington University.
Since first entering the farmed animal advocacy space in high school through grassroots activism, June has volunteered and interned at various organizations that advocate for a more sustainable and ethical food system. During her undergraduate career, she founded a student organization at her university dedicated to plant-based eating and the various issues that intersect with industrial animal agriculture.
Outside of her work at Reducetarian Foundation, June enjoys cooking, crocheting, and scrapbooking.
